Summary: Application Developer to be part of our team focusing on next generation learning experiences. The Classroom and Learning Solutions team is at the forefront of developing learning experiences in a fast-paced and technically rich environment contributing to many UMGC initiatives. The Application Developer will create solutions for innovative learning through the use of new approaches and technologies. This Application Developer will contribute to the effective integration, deployment and management of platforms that support next generation learning experiences. Including but not limited to; learning management systems, content management systems, and third party and custom developed learning technologies. Communication and culture are also core responsibilities in this role. Duties and Responsibilities: Research and suggest new approaches and technologies pertinent to the mission of Classroom and Learning Solutions

Provide programming support to extend functionality of LMS/CMS to support interactive content and tools

Analyze business processes to identify and implement automation of repetitive tasks and scripted job aids

Peer review and test new and revised programmatic functionality as requested by another team member to verify visual and functional quality

Provide programming support for integrated technologies

Understand business process and requirements to provide technical solutions that meet customer needs

Work with internal and external customers to clearly define requirements, uncover business rules and processes, and create user stories

Education & Experience Requirements

: Experience: Minimum of two years of experience as a web programmer

Minimum of two years of experience working with online learning technologies (LMS, CMS, LTI, etc)

Javascript, HTML, CSS, XML and server-side programming to connect to databases

Software development process, including agile/scrum methodology

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience with unit testing and automated testing tools

Excellent attention to detail

Demonstrated ability to solve challenging technical problems, successfully deploy projects and complete assigned tasks

Preferred Experience Requirements

: Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: Adobe Experience Manager and AEM Core components (Example: Sling, OSGI, JCR, Dispatcher)

Java (OSGi, JSP, Servlets)

IMS Global Standards (LTI, LIS, Caliber etc)

Web front end technologies such as: HTML5, SASS, css3, Bootstrap, jQuery

Sightly (AEM Templating language) and CoralUI/TouchUI

Automating builds with Maven using CI Servers like Jenkins/Hudson

VPAT, accessibility and/or ADA compliance

Customer relationship management

For part-time employees, time off rates will be prorated based on the number of hours worked.
