Description
The Chief Credit Officer (CCO) plays a critical role in safeguarding the bank’s credit portfolio and managing the risk associated with the commitment and funding of bank loans, with a strong emphasis on multifamily real estate-backed transactions. This executive ensures loans across our entire portfolio are properly reviewed, appropriately assessed, and maintained in a timely manner. This position will chair the Loan Workout Committee on the remediation and/or collection processes related to distressed assets.
After one year as our Chief Credit Officer, you will know you were successful if you do the following confidently and independently:
- Establish and oversee procedures and guidelines for loan review and approval.
- Lead the loan review committee in executing reviews and approvals.
- Provide final recommendations on loan risk and acceptable mitigants.
- Recommend and oversee the implementation and maintenance of lending and risk strategies.
- Advise executive management on portfolio risk and mitigation strategies.
- Lead processes related to resolving delinquent loans and manage loan workout plans.
- Collaborate with loan officers to manage customer relationships related to non-current loans.
- Advise internal credit underwriting functions on organizational risk strategies.
- Lead the Loan Workout Committee in assessing external risk factors and their impacts on the bank portfolio.
- Contribute to the overall analysis and risk rating of portfolio loans.
Requirements
What we are looking for…
- Equivalent education and experience ensuring strong financial and business acumen; some combination of bachelor’s education, extensive related lending experience, and/or 15+ years’ relevant credit review experience.
- Must demonstrate strong experience with multifamily real estate credit and finance.
- Advanced understanding of financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documents used in analyzing lending risk.
- Mastery of lending processes, industry terminology, and borrower information.
- Superior understanding of banking regulations related to lending and risk management.
- Sophisticated analytical skills for objective, fact-based decisions.
- Experience managing credit teams and collaborating with loan officers.
- Organized and detail-oriented, capable of translating complex information for broader audiences.
- Success in discerning market forces and developing profitable strategies.
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance, risk mitigation, and management best practices.
- Solid understanding of business finance and operations.
