We are seeking a strategic yet roll-up-your-sleeves CFO to lead all financial functions at the enterprise level while guiding financial integration, job-costing standardization, and data-driven decision-making across a portfolio of project-based operating companies. This role is ideal for a financial executive with deep industry expertise who can build and execute financial strategy while managing day-to-day operations in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a strategic advisor to ownership and the executive team, translating financial insights into actionable business strategies.
• Oversee all financial and accounting operations, including multi-entity consolidation, intercompany transactions, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning to align financial performance with corporate growth goals.
• Standardize and elevate project-level job costing, WIP tracking, margin analysis, and cost-to-complete forecasting.
• Collaborate closely with operational leaders and field teams to provide real-time financial analysis, performance metrics, and project oversight.
• Own and optimize ERP and financial systems (strong preference for Deltek or similar project-based platforms); lead system integrations as the company scales.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance across the enterprise.
• Spearhead financial aspects of M&A activity including diligence, deal modeling, and post-acquisition integration.
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance team; foster a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and strategic partners.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, including Controller or CFO roles in engineering, construction, or related project-driven industries.
• Proven track record in multi-entity environments, job costing, and project accounting.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as Deltek, Viewpoint, NetSuite, or Sage; experience in ERP implementations or upgrades is a plus.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP) combined with a business-oriented mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, and often ambiguous environment.
• Strategic leader with a pragmatic, get-it-done approach and strong business acumen.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels.
