Sales Engineer - Vespa.ai (Bay Area)

We're looking for a builder-minded Technical Sales Engineer to solve our customer's most complex problems in RAG/AI applications, recommendation/personalization systems, and AI-powered search. You'll work directly with enterprise prospects in the Bay Area, translating their complex technical requirements into compelling Vespa solutions that drive adoption and growth.

What You’ll Do

• Lead technical discovery sessions and solution design for enterprise prospects

• Build and execute proof-of-concepts for vector search, RAG, and ML use cases

• Support sales cycles with technical expertise, RFP responses, and competitive positioning

• Collaborate with engineering to address customer requirements and product feedback

• Evangelization: Write content, build compelling demos, participate at various conferences to present and/or booth duty

• Work with partners: Enable Vespa services and tech partners for success.

• Do whatever it takes to drive customer success and company growth

What We’re Looking For

• 1-5 years of experience in technical sales, solution engineering, or customer-facing technical roles

• Builder mentality - comfortable in a startup environment, proactive problem-solver

• Hands-on experience with search engines, vector databases, and Python/Java

• Familiarity with AI application development and evolving landscape: RAG Applications, Prompt/Context Engineering, LLM Models

• Voracious learner who stays ahead in our rapidly evolving AI/search landscape

• Excellent communication - can present to both technical teams and C-suite executives• Growth mindset - seeks opportunities to learn, improve, and innovate continuously

Bonus Points

• Experience at search/database companies

• Knowledge of RAG, LLMs, and real-time ML serving

• Open source contributions or conference speaking

• Startup experience - you’ve built something from the ground up
