Recruiting world class technical talent in disruptive cleantech sectors

Location: Based in Houston, TX(relocation package available)

Acre has partnered with a rapidly growing business that has developed and commercialized a novel hydrogen production technology yielding never seen before industrial carbon emission reductions and economic advantages. This is a breakthrough invention that will change the world, and as they continue to grow and secure more commercial partnerships, they are seeking a VP of Engineering to bring exceptional leadership and transformation to their engineering and operations infrastructure.

This position reports in to the Chief Operating Officer. The Vice President of Engineering will be the strategic visionary responsible for bringing structure and refining product development and process engineering methodologies and ultimately will be accountable for the achievement of full technology commercialization.

Responsibilities

  • Expanding and centralizing their in-house process engineering team (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Control Systems) with technical authority and leadership from conceptual design (FEL 1) through FEED and commercial deployment. There are processes in place, but you are our expert responsible for perfecting them and centralizing the team to be one cohesive engineering unit.
  • Building hardened and repeatable processes for moving technology through the development, deployment and operational lifecycle.
  • Identify and manage risks throughout the technology development lifecycle. This is a startup where the future can't be certain, so having an understanding of when to take calculated and potentially aggressive risk is crucial.
  • Lead productization efforts to standardize the product to the point of plug and play.
  • Owning the strategy and execution of technology development and commercialization

To be considered you will have

  • An Advanced degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 20 years' experience working across product, systems and process engineering in relevant industries (electrochemical experience is ideal)
  • Proven experience leading and managing the technology development and deployment lifecycle from 0-1 is required. Candidates must have startup experience taking emerging technology from concept to cash. First-of-a-kind electrochemical / hydrogen production technology commercialization experience is preferred.
  • Process design and process engineering execution expertise is required (you've designed complex plants before and can interpret/use process software like HYSYS, Aspen Plus, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Experience leading process and product engineering teams of 10+ is required.
  • Outstanding commercial aptitude, excellent vendor management skills and a willingness to take on the challenge of commercializing a first of a kind (FOAK) technology
  • Operations experience is desirable - sustaining and reliability engineering experience builds the type of operational perspective we are looking for this leader to have
  • Experience building New Product Introduction (NPI) infrastructure, rolling out stage gate product development methodologies, and creating product lifecycle management systems (PLM) is a major asset.

There are few positions in the world that provide as high a level of visibility as this, and out of those available, an even smaller amount are with businesses developing true breakthrough technology. If you want to join the Rocketship that our client is and have a lasting global impact on the industrial decarbonization ecosystem, please apply now!
