A law firm seeks a skilled Associate Litigation Attorney to join its team in San Diego, California. This full-time position is ideal for attorneys with 1-3 years of experience or newly licensed professionals with relevant internship experience. The selected candidate will engage in a variety of litigation tasks, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, preparing motions, and participating in depositions. Duties:
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant issues.
- Prepare for and participate in depositions and other legal proceedings.
- Assist in developing case strategies with senior attorneys.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Stay current on California Civil Procedures, legal precedents, and court rulings.
- Contribute to the overall success of litigation cases from initiation to resolution.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience as a licensed attorney. Newly barred candidates with internship experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Prior litigation experience, particularly in drafting and arguing motions and handling depositions.
- In-depth knowledge of California Civil Procedures and relevant legal standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex legal issues.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for presenting legal concepts.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active license to practice law in California.
Skills:
- Proficient in legal research and analysis.
- Strong drafting abilities for pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Comfortable with litigation processes, including depositions and court appearances.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
- Knowledge of California Civil Procedures and legal precedents.
- Experience with cannabis and land use law is a plus, but not required.
