Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (LDRP Unit)

Facility: University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center
Location: 500 Upper Chesapeake Dr, Bel Air, MD 21014
Contract Type: Travel Assignment (13 Weeks)
Start Date: September 22, 2025
Specialty: Labor & Delivery with Level II Special Care Nursery

 

Job Details

Shift Schedule:

  • Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 – 07:30)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Coverage: Rotating ( major holidays )
  • Patient Ratios (AWHONN Standards):
    • Early labor/induction: 1:2
    • Active labor/C-section: 1:1
    • Triage/postpartum: 1:4

Unit Capacity:

  • 14 LDRP rooms, 2 ORs, 9-bed Special Care Nursery
  • Monthly Deliveries: ~105

Requirements & Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active RN License: Maryland (MD) or Compact License ( required at submission )
  • Certifications:
    • NRP, STABLE ( required )
    • BLS, ACLS ( AHA required )
    • AWHONN courses ( Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced preferred )

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience
  • Required Skills:
    • Circulating/scrubbing for C-sections
    • High-risk OB care (pre-eclampsia, hemorrhage)
    • Fetal monitoring (EFM/IUPC placement)
    • EPIC proficiency ( preferred )
  • Preferred:
    • Community hospital experience
    • Baby-friendly protocols

Unit & Facility Details

  • Patient Population:
    • Antepartum, VBAC, multiples, preterm labor
    • Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS)
  • Special Equipment:
    • Radiant warmers, breast pumps, tocodynamometers
  • Support Teams:
    • 24/7 anesthesia, lactation consultants
