Position : Emergency Room RN – 12H Days
Guaranteed Hours : 36 per week
Shift : 06:45–19:15, varied shift start times possible (7a, 10a, 11a, 12p, 1p, 3p) Unit & Facility Details
Unit : Emergency Department
Trauma Level : 3 (STEMI & Stroke receiving; transfers for stroke intervention)
Beds : 52, including 4 trauma bays
Fast Track : 6 beds
Triage : 2 quick-look triage areas using ESI
ER Holds : Intermixed with ER
Psych/Seclusion Rooms : None
Security : In-house 24/7 (located in ED)
Daily Volume : ~200 patients/day
Ratios : 1:5 (medical), 1:6 (fast track)
Requirements
Experience :
Minimum 2 years ER experience
Must have Level I or II trauma experience (accumulative within last 3 years)
Level III or lower experience only = not accepted
Certifications Required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS (TNCC preferred)
Skills Needed : ICU drips for hold patients (ICU assists when able)
EMR : Epic (must have used within last 2 years)
Staffing & Support
ED Physicians & Mid-Levels : Staffed, with Peds board-certified MDs available
Charge Nurse : Yes (free charge); House Supervisor can assist
Techs :
ED Techs (2+ years exp) – EKGs, vitals, blood draws, splints
PCAs (
RT : Assigned in ER (ABGs, neb tx, vent, CPAP)
Equipment : Glidescope, Hamilton & Phillips vents
Monitor Techs : Yes, but RNs must read their own tele
Radiology : Dedicated CT & X-ray in ED; transport team available; RNs accompany critical patients
Lab : No phlebotomy; ED techs or RNs draw labs
Scheduling & Policies
RTO : Max 5 days; must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s)
Weekend Requirement : 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block
Floating : Rare, mainly to Foothills freestanding ER (15 min away)
Scrub Color : Navy Blue
Orientation : 1 day NEO, 1 day clinical/EPIC, 1 day on the floor
