Monday – Friday, onsite Overview We are seeking an experienced Human Resources professional to lead all HR functions for our high-volume, full-service restaurant. This role is pivotal in fostering a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with all employment regulations, and supporting our team’s growth and development. The ideal candidate will bring deep HR expertise within the restaurant or hospitality industry, paired with strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a hands-on, people-first approach. Key Responsibilities Recruitment & Onboarding Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract top talent for all restaurant positions. Create and maintain up-to-date job descriptions. Conduct interviews, reference checks, and background screenings to ensure quality hires. Extend offers, manage electronic onboarding in Rippling, verify I-9s in person, and lead new hire orientations. Design and implement onboarding programs to ensure seamless integration into the team. Benefits Administration Communicate employee benefits, including PTO and available leaves. Manage the full lifecycle of benefits programs. Employee Relations & Performance Management Foster retention through engagement programs, feedback systems, and recognition initiatives. Address employee relations matters, resolve conflicts, and conduct investigations as needed. Develop and deliver training programs on customer service, food safety, and leadership. Oversee the performance management process, from goal-setting to performance improvement plans. Support terminations and offboarding processes. Safety & Compliance Manage workers’ compensation claims, coordinate with insurance providers, and oversee return-to-work processes. Maintain and update the Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP). Oversee Cal/OSHA compliance, including safety program development, incident investigations, and safety training. Administer all California and Federal leave programs (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PSL), manage documentation, and facilitate interactive dialogues. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, wage and hour regulations, OSHA, and EEO requirements. Maintain accurate employee records and conduct regular audits of I-9s, certifications, and personnel files. Stay current on industry trends and HR best practices, making recommendations for improvement. Payroll Verify timecards in Rippling, assist with payroll processing, generate post-payroll reports, and issue manual checks as needed. Other Duties Participate in special projects and perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered). Minimum 5 years’ HR management experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations at all levels. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Experience with HRIS systems (Rippling preferred) and POS backend platforms (preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong general tech literacy. Physical ability to lift up to 10 lbs. and work in both seated and standing positions for extended periods. Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
