The Telemetry RN provides specialized care for patients with acute cardiac and medical conditions. Nurses will monitor telemetry, administer medications, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of Telemetry RN experience.
Cardiac drip experience required.
NIH Stroke Scale experience required.
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care for telemetry patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
Care for patients with diagnoses such as CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, Stroke, Sepsis, Diabetes, CAD, Renal Failure, Respiratory Failure, Pneumothorax, and post-cath lab recovery.
Manage TR bands and Fem stops (no sheath pulls).
Perform NIH stroke assessments, chest tube care, and post-cath recovery.
Monitor and interpret telemetry strips every 6 hours using SpaceLab (transitioning to Philips).
Administer and monitor cardiac drips including diltiazem and amiodarone (set rate; no titration of epi or nitro on this floor).
Collaborate with Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, and Nurse Aides (1:8–9 ratio).
Work with RT for CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy.
Float to like units, Med/Surg, and potentially ICU (if experienced).
Maintain professional appearance (scrub color flexible, must be clean and presentable).
Important Notes:
No titration of drips required.
Tele techs present until June; then centralized off-site.
System onboarding followed by 2 orientation shifts provided.
Scheduling: Travelers placed in needed slots, trades allowed but block scheduling not available.
Weekend and holiday coverage required.
No call/standby requirement.
