Job Description: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (LDRP)

Location: Roswell, NM 88201 Contract Group: Ardent Health Services

Schedule: Night Shift (3x12-hour shifts, 18:00 - 06:30) Duration: 13 weeks

Overview:

Join the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit at Lovelace Regional Hospital, providing specialized nursing care to laboring patients, newborns, and postpartum mothers. This position requires strong skills in couplet care, labor management, and cesarean section recovery. First-time travel nurses welcome.

Responsibilities:

Manage care for laboring patients, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean section recoveries.

Provide couplet care for mother and newborn, ensuring rooming-in.

Perform triage of obstetrical patients.

Support breastfeeding and provide lactation assistance.

Assess and care for newborns, including newborn assessments, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia management, and phototherapy.

Assist with circumcision and post-op care.

Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services.

Float within similar units as needed based on staffing requirements.

Requirements:

Current and valid NM or Compact RN license.

Minimum 1 year experience in Labor & Delivery and couplet care/LDRP preferred.

BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred.

Experience with a 1:3 patient ratio.

Familiarity with Epic documentation system.

Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend (12 weekend shifts per contract).

Scrubs provided (purple, navy blue, or any color allowed by facility).

Must be flexible to cover schedule gaps and float within unit scope.

Preferred Skills:

Previous charge nurse experience.

Teaching hospital and community hospital experience.

Newborn care expertise including infant ID, newborn assessment, and postnatal care.

Stable patient management skills.
