Unit Notes - Unit: L&D/PP - Perinatal - # L&D Beds: 12 beds - # triage beds: 10 beds -# Antepartum beds: 12 - # births per month: 200 - Certs: NRP, BLS, ACLS, Fetal monitoring (advanced) all required - Ratios: they follow AWOHNN guidelines - FHM System: Fetal Link - EMR: Cerner - Charge Nurse: Yes - they take a patient assignment if needed - Nurse Aides/OB tech: yes they have 2 scheduled OB tech per shift that assist in deliveries and that scrubs in for c-sections, they will also help stock supplies - Weekend Requirement: Every other - Call Requirement: No - Holidays: one major and two minor - Scrub Color: provided, must be sterile - Vents: No - OB/Neonataologist in house: 2 OB attending 24 hrs; 1 Neonatologist 24 hrs - IV Team: No - RT 24/7: Yes, comes from NICU - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes - Shifts: 12 hrs 7-7 - C-section experience required: must have experience with circulating, scrubbng preferred - Floating: L&D floats to antepartum and to postpartum - Floor specific orientation: 3 shifts on unit - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: 20 weeks and above, high risk - blood pressure, multiples, diabetes, no prenatal care, Substance abuse, etc. - Additional Notes: 13th Largest center for births in California, must have 4 years experience or more in L&D, must also have experience with high risk deliveries (please inquire about the types of high risk deliveries they have experience with) and be familiar with pitocin, mag sulfate, insulin drips, etc. travel experience is preferred. Please note that they will not allow acrylic, overlay nails during the assignment.
