Description:
This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) specializing in Medical-Surgical nursing.
The role involves caring for patients in a setting with a total of 36 beds.
Patient ratios are typically 1:6, with occasional adjustments to 1:7 during surge periods.
Support staff includes an unit secretary available only during day shifts and LNA's for both shifts.
Nurses will work with equipment such as telemetry and utilize Meditech Expanse for documentation.
Staff members are expected to adhere to scheduling requirements of three 12-hour shifts each week, every other weekend, and rotating holidays.
There is a floating policy in place to ensure nurses float to the same level of care when necessary.
Key patient experience requirements include bedside shift reports, hourly safety rounding, and fostering personal connections.
Advanced skills are essential, including experience with continuous bladder irrigation, wound care, drain management (chest tubes, Jackson Pratt drains, etc.), and Foley catheter insertion.
Central line dressing changes, telemetry monitoring, and EKG performance are also required.
Self-scheduling options are available, but leadership retains the right to communicate needs for balancing the schedule.
