Job Description: Position Details: $60,000 average annual salary. $190 per day during the first 8-week training period. After training, enjoy a daily guarantee of $225 plus additional pay based on cases delivered, mileage, and stops. Work schedule consists of early morning starts, four to five days each week, which may include one or two-night layovers, with hotel accommodations and a food stipend provided. Position Purpose: The delivery driver plays a vital role in maintaining the country's food supply chain. You will ensure that customer orders arrive on time and in excellent condition while representing our company and building strong relationships with clients. The Driver Trainee position is an entry-level training role where you will learn to haul freight and operate tractor trailers while assisting a designated driver trainer with deliveries and routes. Expect to communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to inquiries. You will function as a collaborative team member within your department and organization, completing assignments that best serve the company. Key Responsibilities: Complete the Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program successfully. Accompany and assist the driver trainer with deliveries. Conduct all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip inspections) of the tractor/trailer in compliance with DOT regulations. Report any safety concerns and needed repairs promptly. Adhere to all DOT regulations and safety guidelines set by the company. Inspect trailers for secure and properly loaded freight, immediately reporting any hazards. Perform count checks of items loaded, ensuring accurate completion of required paperwork associated with freight. Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed. Drive to deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route. Unload products, transporting them to designated storage locations at the customer’s site. Perform damage control checks and scan items for potential returns per company policy. Verify delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures. Collect payments, including cash or checks when applicable. Manage customer returns by loading them onto the trailer and securing trailer doors. Unload damaged goods and returns, completing the required paperwork. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the tractor and loading dock area. Fulfill other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: 6-12 months of commercial driving experience. High school diploma/GED or equivalent. Valid Class A CDL. Must be at least 21 years old. Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the last 3 years. Pass a post-offer drug test and a criminal background check. Pass a road test. Possess a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure one. Ability to lift and utilize equipment to transport and stack product cases/freight weighing between 10-90 pounds.
