Student Assistant (Work Study)

The Department of Asian Studies is a medium sized department with 38+ faculty members and visiting scholars/researchers. Purpose

Student worker will provide administrative support to the department staff and faculty. Responsibilities

Event Support

Assist with event day set-up/tear-down and execution (i.e., catering, signage, and set-up) at events. Create administrative documents such as registration lists, name tags, floorplan layouts, flyers, etc. Front Office & Administrative Support

Collecting and distributing mail, Answering phone and greeting visitors, Running errands, Maintaining the kitchen supplies, Restocking office supplies and maintaining supply inventory, Keeping shared spaces organized and neat, Upkeep of two copiers, Scanning documents for faculty, Assisting in website management, and Ensuring bulletin boards are up to date. Required Qualifications

Be awarded Federal Work-Study on the Work-Study Verification (WSV). Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy standards as set by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Must be enrolled in appropriate credit hours as required by the student non-academic title. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications

At least one year of administrative experience. Excellent communication skills. Salary Range

$14.00 per hour Working Conditions

Typical of office environment. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds. Required Materials
