Position Overview
International Motors is seeking a Chief Engineer Regulatory Compliance to lead our compliance engineering team and ensure all products meet EPA, CARB, and ECCC requirements. In this role, you will manage a team of compliance professionals, oversee emissions strategy and reporting, and serve as the companys primary liaison with regulatory agencies.
You will play a critical role in shaping product development strategies to meet current and future regulations, supporting defect investigations, and authoring key compliance reports. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to represent International Motors in regulatory and government relations matters.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead Internationals regulatory compliance team (610 associates)
Mentor, coach, and develop technical professionals within the compliance function
Align team priorities with company-wide regulatory and product strategies
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting Manage and track GHG emissions strategy, compliance reporting, and program status
Author and submit defect reports, remedial plans, and warranty/defect reporting to EPA, CARB, and ECCC
Review and interpret federal, California, and ECCC regulations and advisories
Oversee engine and vehicle exemption control processes and reporting
Government & Agency Relations Serve as the companys lead representative to government agencies regarding compliance reporting, investigations, warranty, and regulatory issues
Support agency communications during audits, inquiries, and compliance reviews
Product Development & Change Management Provide regulatory guidance to platform teams for product development and future compliance strategies
Review and approve product change control requests to ensure regulatory alignment
Analyze engine and vehicle build records, including daily emissions label error reports
Minimum Requirements Bachelors degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 10 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
At least 4 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
OR Masters degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
At least 4 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
OR PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
At least 4 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Background in gasoline/diesel and EV powertrain systems
Experience with EV and ZEV powertrain compliance
