Job Summary: The Communications Specialist is essential for enhancing and maintaining both internal and external communications within our healthcare system. This position calls for a creative and strategic thinker capable of engaging diverse audiences effectively. The specialist will support the marketing and development department while promoting key initiatives, such as the Health Fountain. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills both written and oral and have a strong passion for advocacy. Key Responsibilities: Content Creation and Management Develop, write, and edit engaging content for newsletters, press releases, blogs, and social media platforms. Collaborate with department head and healthcare professionals to gather and disseminate relevant information to the public and stakeholders. Internal Communications Write and implement internal communication strategies to ensure all staff are informed about organizational updates and initiatives. Collaborate on internal news and communications and manage intranet content to foster a well-informed workplace. External Communications and Public Relations Act as a backup liaison between the healthcare system and media outlets, managing press inquiries and facilitating interviews. Organize and execute public relations campaigns to enhance the system's reputation and visibility with direction from the department director. Development Department Support Partner with the development team to create communication materials that support fundraising activities, including donor letters, event promotions, and annual reports. Assist in crafting compelling stories that illustrate the impact of donations and support. Health Foundation Promotion Promote the Health Foundation initiative by developing educational materials and coordinating community outreach programs. Manage social media campaigns and digital content to increase public awareness and engagement with Health Foundation programs. Assist with all Foundation events and promotions. Event Planning and Coordination Assist in organizing and promoting healthcare events, internally and externally. Coordinate logistics, communication materials, and post-event follow-ups. Write and organize the run of show in collaboration with the marketing specialist. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field or 5+ years of commensurate experience. (Preferred) Certifications: Google Certification, Google Ads Certification, Email Marketing Certification, AHP, or AFP memberships helpful. Additional communication or marketing certifications helpful. Experience: 2-5 years of experience. Proven experience in a communications role working with multiple locations. Experience managing forms and data from online sources. Grant management and writing experience is a plus. Previous work with high-level business partners, political partners, and/or donors. Professional Skills and Abilities: Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media platforms. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work with and manage various departments and key stakeholders. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time during events. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to accommodate events.
