The Manager – Revenue Accounting will oversee the revenue recognition operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company goals. This role is pivotal in leading a high-performing team, improving processes, and delivering key financial insights to stakeholders.
This position combines advanced accounting expertise with strong leadership and project management skills, enabling the manager to support business decisions and drive process efficiency. The ideal candidate excels in balancing detailed revenue analysis with broader organizational priorities, fostering a collaborative team culture, and managing relationships across departments.
This gig is based at VVHQ - our swanky Virgin Voyages Head Office in Plantation, FL where we follow a hybrid work environment. We can't wait to 'sea' you in person during our Collaboration Days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while you enjoy Mondays and Fridays' as remote days.
What You'll Be Up To:
Oversee revenue recognition processes and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including ASC 606. Develop and implement revenue recognition policies and procedures to improve accuracy and operational efficiency. Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and career development opportunities. Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of revenue accounts and related general ledger balances. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align revenue accounting practices with broader company objectives. Prepare and present dashboards and financial reports for various management levels, summarizing revenue performance and trends. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance revenue reporting, reconciliation accuracy, and system efficiency. Support financial control initiatives to align with company growth and risk management strategies. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely delivery of flash reports and financial results. Maintain confidentiality of financial information and ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements. Foster innovation and data enablement by leveraging systems like Workday and ancillary tools for revenue accounting tasks. Other duties as assigned by leadership.
SuperPowers Required:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA certification preferred. Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a mix of public and private accounting preferred. Proven experience managing and developing a small to mid-sized accounting team. Industry experience in cruise, travel, or hospitality sectors is a plus. Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with computerized ledger systems. Experience with Workday or similar ERP systems is highly desirable. Leadership Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to collaborate across teams. Demonstrated capability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
