Flexible standard business hours (Monday – Friday) for meetings and events. Upon successful completion of training, this position may be eligible for telework, in accordance with the currently approved School of Professional Studies telework policy and subject to leadership discretion.
Pay Rate $33 Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, instructional design, educational media, or related field. Proficiency in using a Learning Management System (Canvas preferred) Organizational skills and attention to detail. Interpersonal and communication skills. Attention to detail
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related educational field, or graduate coursework in Education, Instructional Design, or Instructional Technology. Classroom teaching or training experience (college teaching preferred). Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Experience providing support to faculty, trainers, or curriculum developers. Experience in event marketing content development, web design, and graphics/poster design Experience with instructional technology and design tools including: AI tools for education Wordpress or similar web design tools TeamDynamix PollEverywhere Canvas advanced functions (e.g., managing blueprints) Canva or similar graphic design tools DesignPlus/CidiLabs Localist or similar event management platform E-textbooks/adaptive homework systems (e.g., Zybooks, Aleks) Assistive technology and accessibility tools Zoom Google workspace and calendars
Duties and Responsibilities
This position promotes digital innovation, AI in education, and faculty development through 1:1 consultations, course support, instructional design support, and training support in the use of academic technologies and best practices in teaching and learning:
Faculty Workshops and Event Support
Develop and update CTL program or event webpages according to web design standards and accessibility. Design content, graphics, and banners for social media and CTL digital channels to promote events. Encode workshops and training events in Localist, including descriptions, images, and categorizations. Confirm calendar synchronization for workshops and events. Moderate online and in-person training sessions: assist with sign-in, set up technology (projectors, Zoom), provide in-session support, manage breakout rooms, attendance, facilitate Q&A, and handle session recordings. Send workshop reminders and maintain shared lists of learning resources for faculty. Track, export, and format attendance data from workshops and events.
Instructional Technology Consultations and Support
Guide faculty through basic and advanced settings in Canvas, Zoom, AI tools (Copilot, Gemini), and other academic technology through 1-1 consultations and support tickets Resolve common LMS issues and configure course shells based on faculty requests. Log faculty consultations into TeamDynamix and Monday.com.
Canvas Course Design Support and Maintenance
Copy pre-made course templates into course shells. Apply team templates for standard formatting with DesignPlus. Build course components including modules, pages, assignments, quizzes, discussions, media, videos, and homepages. Apply consistency in course structure, naming conventions, and navigation. Conduct quality assurance checks on functionality for links, navigation, and media playback. Address basic accessibility issues (e.g., alt-text, captions, heading structure) in courses, as they arise. Maintain an organized file management across shared drives and course repositories.
Other Work/Responsibilities
Support team CTL initiatives and special projects related to digital innovation, AI in teaching, and faculty development as required Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement. Engage in continuous learning around instructional technologies and course design. Track project and work hours using tools like Google calendar and Monday.com Perform other duties as assigned.
