Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical Telemetry
Location: Las Cruces, NM
Shift: 07:00-19:00 (Varies, see details below)
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours
Contract Duration: 91 weeks
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in the Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit. This position plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a strong emphasis on EKG monitoring and orthopedics preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatrics.
- Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Monitor patient vital signs and EKGs, recognizing and responding to abnormal readings.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate patient records using Meditech EHR.
Patient Population:
- The unit caters to medical-surgical patients, with an emphasis on telemetry and orthopedic care.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Mexico.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience, with EKG experience mandatory.
- Preferred experience in orthopedic care or similar specialties.
Unit Information:
- Floor: 6th Floor - Ortho/Onc/MS
- Trauma Level: Not specified
- Patient Ratios: 1:6
- Supervision: Supervised environment available for travelers on a 14-day waiver pending background check results.
Additional Notes:
- Floating to other Medical-Surgical units may be required based on staffing needs.
- Weekend work is expected every other weekend.
