Upward Bound 3 Academic Coordinator

The Upward Bound 3 Academic Coordinator will devote 100% of their time and effort with the day-to-day coordination of the UB3 project and will supervise professional tutors and summer staff. This position reports to the Director of UB/ ETS . The Upward Bound Academic Coordinator will assist with the management of the student database and filing/records system to meet project goals, especially those relating to the high school participants setting and reaching educational and career goals based upon their own educational and career interests.
This is a full-time, exempt, grant funded position.

The salary range for this position is $42,000-$45,000

. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Minimum of 2 years of experience working with a disadvantaged or underrepresented student population. Minimum of 1 year of experience working with Upward Bound or another TRIO program, or a similar program focused on working with students who are from low-income households or are potential first-generation college students. Knowledge of collegiate academic procedures. Minimum of 2 years of related administrative experience. Minimum of 2 years of counseling experience, preferably in an educational setting. Ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with numerous members of the funding agency as well as the professional and academic communities. Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds (both oral and written). Relevant work experience with pre-college and/or higher education Student Services/Student Affairs or Counseling. Years of Experience Required

Preferred Qualifications Masters degree preferred, preferably in educational administration, college student personnel, educational leadership, guidance and counseling, or other directly related field. Equipment Operated Basic office equipment (desktop and/or laptop computer, copier/multi-function device, telephone). Working Conditions Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional stooping, bending, lifting, pushing or pulling is required (typically less than 10 lbs). Regular use of desktop or laptop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Regular travel within the local or regional setting will be required, with occasional evening, weekend or overnight hours. Assist with the planning of the academic and summer course curriculum. Review student applications, and participate in applicant interviews and selection, based upon eligibility criteria, applications, interviews, and input from the Assistant Director. Participate in program activities and functions of the project. Percentage Of Time
Percentage Of Time 35 Duty and Responsibility Provide academic counseling and advising to assigned students. Advise assigned students about college entrance requirements and career decision-making. Attend weekly school visits to assigned target schools. Percentage Of Time
Percentage Of Time 25 Duty and Responsibility Marketing:
Serve as the liaison between UB3 and RU, the community and the target schools, including UB3 marketing presentations. Assist with the development of UB3 promotional material such as brochures, posters and other related material. Percentage Of Time
Percentage Of Time 20 Duty and Responsibility Administration and Related Duties:
Oversee record keeping for 70 student participant files. Oversee utilization of student database to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of data. Keep accurate records of disbursed student stipends. Percentage Of Time
