ABOUT US HirexHire (pronounced hire by hire) is a Chicago-based recruiting and talent consultancy that integrates with companies short-term to provide long-term talent solutions. We take a seat in our client’s everyday operations to understand their people goals, gaps, and challenges. We then develop and implement the processes and technologies to execute a sustainable and scalable talent plan. We partner with companies expecting or experiencing high growth which need to hire at scale or fill a critical role rapidly. Our clients are not looking for quick-fix placements but are thoughtfully building a hiring strategy to scale their businesses.
OUR CLIENT Location: Chicago, IL Industry: Retail / CPG Company Size: 2500+ Employees What They Do: Our client operates in a rapidly growing sector with a strong national presence. The company is expanding across multiple regions. Due to this growth, there is a high demand for talent across various teams, with a significant emphasis on filling key positions to support their expanding operations.
THE ROLE The Director of Procurement will be responsible for shaping procurement strategies that drive operational excellence and long term financial success. This role will oversee sourcing for capital expenditures and other high impact initiatives, while balancing strategic vision with hands on execution. The Director will optimize supplier performance, manage key negotiations, and foster collaboration across finance, operations, and leadership teams to deliver cost savings, compliance, and long-term value. WHAT YOU WILL DO Develop and deliver procurement strategies that reduce costs, improve efficiency, and support business growth. Lead vendor selection processes, including negotiations and occasional RFI/RFP cycles for key initiatives. Build and maintain supplier relationships that strengthen innovation, compliance, and performance. Use ERP and analytics tools to track performance and identify opportunities for savings and process improvements. Mentor and guide procurement team members, creating alignment and accountability across functions. WHAT YOU WILL NEED A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field (master's preferred). 10+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in leadership. Expertise in sourcing strategy, contract negotiation, and supplier management. Experience with ERP systems and procurement analytics, with the ability to translate data into action. Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing and guiding procurement teams. WHAT YOU WILL LIKELY NEED A strategic mindset with financial acumen to connect procurement decisions to business outcomes. Familiarity with procurement compliance frameworks and process improvement best practices. Certifications such as APICS or Supply Chain Certification (helpful, but not required). Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at every level. Professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
