Litigation Secretary

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to join our dynamic legal team in Sacramento, California on a contract basis. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong organizational skills, and has a proven track record of supporting litigation attorneys in a California law firm setting. Key Responsibilities Prepare, format, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence, in compliance with California state and federal court rules. Manage attorneys' calendars, scheduling court appearances, depositions, mediations, and client meetings. Coordinate e-filing and service of documents with courts and opposing counsel. Maintain and organize case files, both electronic and physical, ensuring accuracy and accessibility. Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel. Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, and coordinating logistics. Handle administrative tasks such as time entry, billing, and expense reporting. Prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a high-pressure environment. Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Litigation Secretary in a California law firm. In-depth knowledge of California state and federal court procedures, filing requirements, and deadlines. Proficiency with legal software (e.g., iManage, Clio, or similar) and e-filing systems. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with legal terminology and litigation processes.
