Legal Secretary
Job Description: Legal Secretary Location: Birmingham, MI Job Type: Full-time, M-F 8:00 AM-4:30 PM; in-office role (no hybrid/remote) Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Secretary to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial litigation. Experience in family law is a significant plus. This role requires a proactive individual with exceptional organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of legal procedures. Key Responsibilities: Document Management: Draft, format, edit, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, briefs, and correspondence. Ensure all documents comply with court rules and firm standards. Case File Management: Maintain and organize both physical and electronic case files. Ensure all documents are filed accurately and are easily accessible. Calendaring & Scheduling: Manage and maintain attorney calendars, including scheduling meetings, depositions, court appearances, and deadlines. Send reminders and ensure all parties are aware of upcoming events. Filing & E-Filing: Prepare and e-file documents with various state and federal courts, adhering to specific court rules and deadlines. Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Answer phones, screen calls, and handle inquiries professionally and efficiently. Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders and coordinating logistics. Administrative Support: Perform general administrative tasks such as data entry, photocopying, scanning, and managing office supplies. Billing Support: Assist with preparing and submitting time entries and expense reports as needed. Required Qualifications: Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Legal Secretary, with a strong focus on commercial litigation. Experience in family law is a significant plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and filing requirements for state and federal courts. Soft Skills:
