Job Description: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (Night Shift)
Position Type : Contract
Shift : 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Location : Asheville, NC
Unit Information :
Join our dynamic team in the Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with 38 beds dedicated to providing high-quality patient care. As an integral member of our nursing staff, you will work alongside a robust support team, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a safe and collaborative environment.
Team Structure :
- Day Shift : 1 Charge RN, 6-7 RNs, 1 LPN, 3 PCTs, 1 Unit Secretary
- Night Shift : 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 LPN, 2-3 PCTs, HUC for part of the shift
Patient Ratios :
- Day shift: 6:1 (Charge nurse is out of staffing to assist)
- Night shift: 7:1
Equipment & Technology :
- Baxter IV Pumps
- Wound Vacuums
- Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
- EMR: Cerner Powerchart
Qualifications :
- Required Skills :
- Medical/Surgical nursing experience
- Telemetry experience
- Preferred Skills :
- Charge nurse experience
Responsibilities :
- Perform peripheral IV starts, dressing changes, and other standard medical-surgical procedures.
- Maintain effective communication and teamwork within the unit.
- Provide care to patients while adhering to established protocols and procedures.
Personality Traits :
We are looking for a candidate who is a team player, possesses a positive attitude, and is eager to help others without being asked.
Certifications Required :
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Floating Opportunities :
Travelers may float to other medical surgical units and ED holding medical/surgical patients as needed.
Work Schedule :
- Weekend commitment: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks.
