We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function for our growing civil construction company in the San Francisco Bay Area. This strategic, hands-on role oversees all aspects of HR for a diverse workforce across multiple job sites, including union and non-union employees, with a focus on compliance, culture, employee relations, and talent development.
Human Resources Manager Benefits And Compensation
A competitive base salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000 7% annual profit sharing and a 10% annual bonus potential Health coverage 401(k) with a 3% company match
Human Resources Manager Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role Prior experience in construction, engineering, or heavy civil industries is strongly preferred A deep understanding of California labor law, HR compliance, and safety requirement Experience with union labor relations and collective bargaining, strong employee relations skills
Proficiency in HRIS platforms like ADP, Paycom, or Viewpoint Vista Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
Human Resources Manager Preferred Background
Extensive experience in the construction, engineering, or heavy civil industries A proven track record of managing HR for both office and field-based employees Hands-on experience with union labor relations and collective bargaining agreements, crucial for navigating the complexities of a diverse workforce A strong background in ensuring compliance with California state and federal labor laws, including prevailing wage, certified payroll, and OSHA requirements Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals, partner with executive leadership Foster a positive, inclusive culture across diverse teams. Experience in talent acquisition, training and development, and performance management is highly valued.
