About the Role
The Company is in search of a General Counsel to serve as its primary legal advisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the negotiation of master lease agreements, overseeing UCC perfection and maintenance, and managing key supporting agreements. This role also involves serving as the main point of contact with third-party law firms for specialized legal matters, including customer defaults, workouts, and bankruptcy coordination. The General Counsel will be expected to provide expert legal advice, conduct legal research, and ensure that all legal documents and agreements are in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, an active bar license, and a minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with a focus on commercial finance, equipment leasing, or related areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong corporate and commercial legal background, exceptional negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to balance legal protection with business objectives. Experience in litigation related to equipment leasing transactions or bankruptcies, as well as familiarity with UCC Article 2A and Article 9, is preferred. The role requires a collaborative leader with a client-first mentality, who is adept at working with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to achieve successful, mutually beneficial outcomes.
