Systems Engineering Lead (Lead Ops Engineer) , you’ll be critical in delivering shared solutions for infrastructure operations across our products. Working collaboratively, you’ll lead your team to build and improve our current and future hosting capabilities. Critical suite of products, ClinicalKey . ClinicalKey is a powerful clinical search and reference platform developed by Elsevier to support healthcare professionals, students, and researchers by delivering fast, evidence-based, and trusted medical content. Requirements Advanced problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating resources for troubleshooting/diagnosing complex project issues; success in translating findings into solutions; good fault diagnostic skills with the ability to prioritize faults and respond or escalate accordingly. Experience and best practices in AWS Architecture, with accreditation or proficiency in Amazon Web Services (AWS); ability to develop technical standards and review processes to ensure standards are followed. Experience facilitating technical and planning meetings to identify optimal outcomes, seeking diverse ideas, and championing innovation within squads and across the organization. Experience in authoring CI/CD pipelines, automation for infrastructure, deployment orchestration, and monitoring, with tools like Jenkins for rapid software releases. Experience in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), deploying applications with container tech, managing Linux servers, and administration at scale. Experience deploying and integrating monitoring technologies, backup/restore, tools like New Relic, ELK, and operational support on major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure). Knowledge of modular Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and deployment via Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for multi-region cloud environments. Proven record in implementing DevOps and SRE methodologies, with data-driven insights demonstrating their impact. Solid scripting skills in languages like Ruby, Bash, Golang, Python; experience in modern scripting and OO programming within agile teams. Responsibilities Mentoring DevOps & Cloud team members, leading working sessions, and providing guidance to foster a highly effective, adaptable, and collaborative team culture. Contributing to shared self-service modules to enable rapid, reliable software system management across the SDLC. Leading daily operations, fostering an environment of innovation and learning, and promoting an inclusive, engaged, and agile culture. Ensuring operational frameworks, policies, and best practices are followed to improve system reliability and performance, including incident management and disaster recovery. Leading platform automation to enhance deployment frequency, minimize failures, and maintain security using scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell), IaC tools, and cloud-native tools like Lambdas. Driving modernization efforts, implementing multi-region AWS infrastructure, and promoting secure, high-performing frameworks and shared services. Monitoring system health, troubleshooting issues, and communicating escalations effectively, embracing a blameless culture to prevent incidents.
