A top retailer is looking to hire a Principal UX Designer to lead the development of scalable, intelligent design systems infused with automation and AI. This role requires visionary thinking and flawless execution, transforming complex workflows and large datasets into elegant, accessible, and future-proof design solutions.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate across engineering, marketing, and brand teams to ensure cohesive design across all customer and associate touchpoints. Build and maintain style guides and component libraries that promote consistent, high-quality experiences, with a focus on AI-assisted tooling and workflows. Contribute to design system governance by reviewing and guiding contributions for alignment and efficiency. Apply systems thinking to simplify complexity and create intuitive, scalable solutions. Manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Facilitate Design Thinking sessions to foster creativity and alignment across teams. Engage with the design research team at appropriate stages to incorporate key insights into the design process. Must-Haves:
Degree in HCI, Information Architecture, Digital Design, or a related field, with 5-7+ years of product design experience. Familiarity with engineering workflows, versioning, and translating design tokens into code (e.g., JSON, CSS variables). Deep understanding of extending core design systems through subsystems, shared patterns, and platform-specific guidance. Strong knowledge of enterprise-scale design systems, including tokens, patterns, components, theming, documentation, and automation, with expertise in Figma. An impressive portfolio showcasing elegant design solutions. Experience or strong understanding of generative UX and AI patterns. Experience with Vibe-coding and MCP tools (e.g., Figma Make, Cursor). Experience using platforms like Airtable for managing, integrating, and automating data across tools.
