NewsNation Segment Producer, NewsNation Now (Chicago) NewsNation is seeking a Segment Producer for its weekday dayside program, NewsNation Now. This role involves contributing story ideas, compiling elements, and crafting engaging live segments and packages based on a wide range of topics ranging from political news to domestic news to international news. The Segment Producer collaborates closely with the Executive Producer, Senior Producers, and Line Producers to ensure accurate and compelling broadcasts. The position is based in the network’s Chicago office. Duties & Responsibilities: • Pitch stories and segment ideas regularly •Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources. •Select strongest possible elements to help best tell stories. • Write, organize, and produce scripts and elements for show and interview segments or packages. •Assist in preparing and executing live, compelling television newscasts. •Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of stories. •Assist in the control room if needed •Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadership. Requirements & Skills: •Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field. •Five or more years’ experience in national or major-market news •Prior segment producing experience required •Prior line producing and live control room experience is helpful •Must exhibit strong news judgment and editorial sensibilities •Strong broadcast newswriting skills are required •Must be able to create dynamic graphic and video elements •Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people •Must interact well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff •Should be able to handle stress, including short deadlines •Should be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time •Must be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings and weekends/holidays Salary $75,000 - $90,000 Benefits: Our comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees includes, but not limited to, medical (with multiple plan options), dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) with company matching contributions, Paid Parental leave, life insurance and more.
