The successful candidate will manage comprehensive accounting operations across one or more power plants, including month-end close procedures, accounts payable/receivable management, audit coordination, tax compliance, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage and document daily transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash movements, payroll, and capital expenditures.
Create and scrutinize month-end journal entries including depreciation, accruals, prepaid expenses, amortization, and asset capitalization.
Perform thorough balance sheet reconciliations and deliver insightful variance analysis between actual results and budgeted/forecasted figures.
Oversee inventory accounting procedures and Cost of Goods Sold documentation, focusing on fuel and parts inventory.
Drive revenue recognition protocols and direct settlements for energy production.
Monitor daily cash movements, handle cash receipts, and deliver precise bank reconciliations.
Provide impactful weekly/biweekly cash position reports for executive review.
Create comprehensive audit schedules, coordinate with external auditors, and maintain robust financial close documentation.
Ensure compliance with tax filing requirements (including 1099 forms, property tax submissions, and FAS depreciation schedules).
Leverage enterprise solutions such as QuickBooks, reporting functions, and reconciliation processes.
Collaborate effectively with operations, procurement, plant management, and human resources to ensure accurate cost tracking and accrual procedures.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
At least 5 years of proven accounting experience.
Strong command of US GAAP principles, especially regarding accruals, depreciation, capitalization, and amortization.
Proven expertise with QuickBooks.
Strong Excel skills (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas).
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
