Our current projects are on the cusp of entering clinical trials, and we are seeking a highly experienced Director of Business Development, based in the USA, to drive the out-licensing of these projects. This role will also encompass fundraising efforts to secure the financial resources necessary to support our ongoing R&D and operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, particularly in establishing partnerships with large pharmaceutical companies, multinational corporations (MNCs), and medium-sized biopharma companies in the US, Europe, and China.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development:

  • Lead BD activities in the US, Europe, and China, with a focus on out-licensing our biologic drug projects that are entering clinical trials.
  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with large pharmaceutical companies, MNCs, and medium-sized biopharma companies to secure licensing agreements.
  • Develop and execute BD strategies that align with the company’s objectives to generate cash flow through project licensing, supporting other R&D and operational activities.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including research, clinical, and regulatory affairs, to ensure successful project licensing and alignment with company goals.

Market Intelligence:

  • Monitor and analyze market trends in the biopharmaceutical industry, particularly in biologic drugs and large molecule therapeutics.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the executive team based on market analysis and competitive intelligence.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biotechnology, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, PhD) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development within the biopharmaceutical industry, with a focus on biologic drugs and large molecule therapeutics. R&D experience in drug development is preferred.
  • Proven track record in securing licensing agreements and driving projects through early-stage development to clinical trials.
  • Experience in fundraising, particularly with MNC investment funds and venture capital.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape in the US, Europe, and China.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with fluency in both English and Mandarin (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, particularly between the US and China.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends in biologic drug development and licensing, including biologic drugs, large molecule therapeutics, mRNA and clinical trial transitions.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and navigate challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a growing biopharmaceutical company by securing critical licensing agreements and ensuring the financial stability necessary to advance our innovative R&D projects.
