The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations in a government contracting environment, with a strong focus on compliance, internal controls, and accurate financial reporting. This role requires hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint and a solid understanding of FAR/DFARS and DCAA requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the general ledger, month-end close process, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition in compliance with GAAP and contract types (T&M, CPFF, FFP).
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll integration, and fixed assets functions.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with DCAA audit standards.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and cost allocations.
  • Prepare indirect rate calculations, incurred cost submissions (ICS), and support rate audits.
  • Act as system administrator and subject matter expert for Deltek Costpoint , ensuring accurate setup and use across accounting modules.
  • Collaborate with program managers, HR, and procurement teams to ensure alignment across departments.
  • Support the annual financial audit, tax filings, and ad hoc reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the government contracting space.
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (GL, Projects, Labor, and Billing modules).
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, FAR/DFARS, and DCAA compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing monthly close cycles, indirect rates, and project cost accounting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA and/or MBA a plus.
  • Experience preparing Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS).
  • Familiarity with Unanet or Cognos for reporting is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a mid-sized or growing federal contractor environment.
