Senior Data Engineering Lead

As a Senior Data Engineering Lead, you will take a key role in driving transformative initiatives at Capital One.
Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) is central to Capital One's most vital enterprise platforms. We establish practices that guide the development of technology solutions and deliver capabilities that exemplify these best practices.
What You'll Do:
Work with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions utilizing full-stack development tools and technologies.
Collaborate with a talented team experienced in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems.
Leverage programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, and utilize NoSQL databases and cloud-based data warehousing services like Redshift and Snowflake.
Stay ahead of technology trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, engage in technology communities, and mentor fellow engineers.
Work closely with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that enhance the financial empowerment of millions of people.
Conduct unit testing and peer code reviews to ensure that your code is well-designed, efficiently coded, and optimized for performance.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in application development (internship experience not counted).
At least 2 years of experience with big data technologies.
A year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).
Preferred Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in application development using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
4+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).
4+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools (e.g., MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark).
Experience in real-time data processing and streaming applications (4+ years).
4+ years of experience implementing NoSQL solutions (e.g., Mongo, Cassandra).
Expertise in data warehousing (4+ years), specifically with Redshift or Snowflake.
4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux, including basic commands and shell scripting.
2+ years of experience applying Agile engineering practices.
Please note that this position is based in McLean, VA, with a salary range of $193,400 - $220,700 for the Lead Data Engineer role.
