Position Overview
The firm is seeking an experienced
Traditional Labor Partner
to represent employers in union-related matters, collective bargaining, NLRB proceedings, and labor strategy. This is an opportunity to join a thriving and entrepreneurial group that partners with both household-name clients (e.g., Walmart, Campbell Soup) and mid-sized businesses (2,000-3,000 employees). Candidates must bring a strong portable book of business and a passion for providing strategic labor counsel.
Key Responsibilities
Lead
collective bargaining
negotiations, including wage, benefit, and workplace condition discussions with unions. Advise clients on
NLRA compliance , including Section 7 rights and other protected concerted activities. Guide employers through
union organizing campaigns , providing lawful communication strategies and proactive union avoidance. Represent clients before the
National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)
for elections and ULP charges. Conduct
training and counseling
sessions for management on union relations, labor laws, and internal policy alignment. Collaborate with internal litigation and counseling attorneys, when applicable. Proactively identify opportunities to
develop and grow
a niche labor practice within the firm. Candidate Requirements
Active license to practice law in one of the listed states (NY, PA, NJ, or DE). Minimum
portable book of business: $1M+
(approx. take-home compensation: $500k-$600k). Proven experience in: Collective bargaining Union representation campaigns NLRB proceedings NLRA compliance
Comfortable billing at competitive rates: Junior Partner:
$600/hr Senior Partner:
$700/hr+
Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and manage complex client relationships. Cultural fit with a firm that values
substance, humility, and initiative . Additional Information
Billing Target:
1,600 hours/year (flexible for strong rainmakers with larger books). Firm Culture: Not a "sweatshop," but still
high performance . Support staff ratio of
5 secretaries per partner . Flexibility to develop one's own
niche practice .
