Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AI Governance Engineer to lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks for artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) solutions in a healthcare environment. This role ensures that AI initiatives align with regulatory requirements, ethical standards, patient safety, and organizational policies. Estimated salary range for this position is $142599.25 - $185379.03 / year depending on experience.

Responsibilities

Governance & Policy Development

Develop and implement enterprise-wide AI governance policies and procedures.

Ensure alignment with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, FDA AI/ML guidelines).

Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, IT Security, and Clinical teams to evaluate AI use cases.

Ethical & Responsible AI

Define and enforce responsible AI principles, including fairness, transparency, explainability, and accountability.

Develop mechanisms to assess and mitigate bias and unintended consequences in AI models.

Risk Management & Compliance

Oversee risk assessments of AI/ML models prior to and post-deployment.

Monitor AI systems for model drift, bias, and performance degradation.

Ensure documentation, model lineage, and audit trails are maintained.

Operational Oversight

Lead an AI Model Review Committee or Governance Council.

Establish and maintain processes for model approval, change control, and sunsetting.

Work closely with data scientists, MLOps engineers, and clinical stakeholders to ensure models meet safety and ethical standards.

Education & Advocacy

Educate internal stakeholders on AI governance best practices.

Advocate for patient-centric and ethical use of AI across the organization.

Stay current on emerging regulations, frameworks, and technologies.

Qualifications

Degrees:

Masters.

Required

Additional Qualifications:

Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Health Informatics, Public Policy, or related field. 5+ years of experience in AI/ML governance, healthcare compliance, or technology risk management. In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and ethical considerations surrounding AI. Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and lifecycle Knowledge of regulatory and legal frameworks related to AI in healthcare Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills Strategic thinker with attention to detail and execution focus

Preferred

Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., CIPP, PMP, or Responsible AI certification).

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and ML tools.

Experience working with clinical data, EHR systems, or regulated healthcare technologies.

Minimum Required Experience: 10 years
