Position CAMINOS Student Experience Coordinator

Position Summary
This is a full-time NSF grant-supported position. The CAMINOS grant (Cultivating Access to Manifest INtentional Outcomes in STEM)is housed in the ARMAS Center. This grant creates a partnership between ARMAS and two-year institutions in Northern New Mexico (Santa Fe Community College, UNM-Taos, and Luna Community College) and regional high schools to broaden student engagement in STEM.
Duties and Responsibilities Be the direct contact person for PIs managing grants from diverse disciplines at NMHU (ARMAS, biology, chemistry, geology, computer science, forestry, environmental science, etc). Maintain a database of STEM research/internship opportunities. Connect students to STEM research opportunities outlined in existing and future ARMAS/NMHU grants (internships, work-study jobs, peer-mentoring, professionally mentored projects, etc.) and professional development opportunities. Collection and management of all CAMINOS event related data. Execute and process CAMINOS pre-approvals, purchase requests, and expense reports. Mentor transfer students and NMHU students. Hold regular office hours in ARMAS Center. Work closely with the PI and partner institutions to develop regional programming for grant participants at the high school and postsecondary levels. Help oversee ARMAS Center Technicians and SILs. Help execute (planning, organizing, set-up, clean-up) all ARMAS events such as the NENM Regional Science and Engineering Fair March 21-22, 2025. Provide customer service to students, staff, and faculty. Establish and maintain relationships with staff and faculty across NMHU.
Minimum Job Requirements
Must have a BS or equivalent degree in a STEM discipline. At least 1 year of research experience in a laboratory or field setting. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Work in a team setting. Be highly self-motivated and a self-starter. Be comfortable working with a high level of autonomy.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in STEM field or related discipline. Ability to travel regionally. Have a valid drivers license. Customer service skills. Experience working with youth. Ability to navigate administrative tasks across multiple institutions.
Special Conditions for Eligibility
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (excel, word, powerpoint, Outlook). Database management. Experience working in a STEM field. Communicate well with diverse audiences.
Physical Demands
Occasionally lifting more than 50lbs. Sitting. Standing. Walking.
Working Environment
Office setting. Some travel in-state.
Pay Rate 42K - 46K Depending on qualifications
