(WLT) seeks a visionary, collaborative Executive Director to lead the organization’s mission and growth. Reporting to an active 18-member Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, manage daily operations, ensure long-term financial health, and serve as the primary ambassador for WLT. This role requires strong fundraising skills, strategic planning ability, and the capacity to nurture relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, government officials, and the public. This is a full-time position based in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Organizational Advancement Collaborate with the Board to set annual priorities, evaluate progress, and provide strategic direction. Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement a multi-year revenue and conservation strategy aligned with WLT’s mission and growth. Guide long-term financial sustainability by securing operational funds and stewardship funding prior to new land acquisitions. Fundraising & Revenue Development Lead fundraising initiatives including grant writing, donor cultivation, event coordination, and relationship management. Maintain donor records and fundraising metrics to track progress. Operations & Staff Management Oversee daily operations, financial management, and compliance with nonprofit regulations and land trust standards. Recruit, train, and supervise staff, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment. Partner with the Board Executive Committee to prepare for meetings, manage communications, and support board engagement. Property Stewardship & Community Outreach Support property acquisitions, easements, and stewardship of WLT lands, including Schwarz Farm and St. Xavier Nature Preserve. Represent WLT to community stakeholders, government entities, and the public, building awareness and partnerships. Qualifications & Desired Skills Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred. Leadership experience in nonprofit, conservation, or related fields. Proven success in fundraising, including grant writing and donor relations. Strong knowledge of land conservation tools and stewardship practices. Financial and organizational management expertise. Excellent communication skills — written, verbal, and public speaking. Strategic thinker with persistence, patience, analytical skills, independent judgment, and strong prioritization ability. Experience working with boards and volunteers. Familiarity with Pennsylvania land use, environmental regulations, and conservation funding. The ability to foster open dialogue and collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. Business acumen and maturity to balance strategic vision with day-to-day operational demands.
