Position Overview:
SGL is seeking a proactive
Domestic Freight Forwarding Specialist
to manage
end-to-end
domestic operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of freight forwarding activities from initiating shipment booking and processing orders, providing customer service, coordinating with warehouses and dispatch, managing documentation, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery. This role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates with freight forwarding or logistics experience who want to grow their career in domestic operations while gaining broad exposure across all aspects of the workflow.
Job Description: Manage the complete lifecycle of domestic shipments, including booking, processing incoming orders, and scheduling to meet promised delivery deadlines. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, special requirements, and shipment updates. Coordinate with warehouse teams, dispatch, and multiple carriers to ensure timely, accurate, and reliable freight movement. Prepare and manage all transportation documentation, including delivery notes, transfer orders, and shipment records. Monitor carrier performance, implement operational agreements, and serve as the primary escalation point for service-related issues. Investigate and resolve shipment complaints and claims, ensuring timely follow-up and successful closure. Monitor inventory using ERP or similar systems and resolve delivery-related issues efficiently. Assist customer service with order status inquiries and special customer needs. Identify opportunities to improve internal logistics processes and recommend updates to the department manager or Logistics Director. Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives within regional logistics operations, aligning with regional supply chain strategy to support business growth. Focus on ensuring reliable, effective distribution of customer orders with the use of numerous carrier partners and coordination across multiple DFS and external 3rd party sites. Ensures the reliable, effective, and timely delivery of finished goods to DFS customers. Perform additional logistics and operational support tasks as assigned. Education & Experience:
Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or domestic operations required. Experience with bonded freight and cargo. Ability to manage the end-to-end shipment process and coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications & Skills:
