We’re looking for an Associate General Counsel to join a new and growing tech-enabled insurance brokerage that's modernizing how small and mid-sized businesses access and manage insurance—using AI-powered service models to make smarter, faster, and more affordable coverage a reality.

This is a brand new business arm of a Miami unicorn financial services and business consulting group dedicated to elevating the service landscape for small and midsize businesses nationwide.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate thrives in high-growth environments and brings process-minded thinking to all things legal. This is not a litigation role—it's for a strategic, operational attorney who’s obsessed with clean systems, air-tight contracts, and seamless legal support across departments.

You’ll partner closely with leadership and cross-functional teams (especially Product, Partnerships, Ops, IT, and Compliance) to ensure legal frameworks keep pace with the company’s growth. You’ll help manage foundational legal infrastructure around contracts, compliance, data use, intellectual property, and corporate governance, helping us move fast without breaking things. You’ll work closely with the Chief Legal Officer, gaining exposure to a broad range of legal and business issues, while owning key day-to-day legal processes.

We're building a modern, acquisition-driven insurance services company focused exclusively on small and mid-sized business clients (10–99 lives). Our advantage lies in our blend of AI-powered technology and human expertise, enabling a seamless, omnichannel experience for SMB clients and their employees. We’re acquiring independent agencies and investing in their teams, giving producers and servicing staff the tools to thrive.

Annual Salary DOE $130-$160k + annual bonus
401k eligible on first payroll. Company will match up to 4% of gross pay
Monthly cell phone stipend
Schedule/commute flexibility
PTO in first year accumulates 120 hours in first 12 months
14 annual holiday days: 13 scheduled and 1 floating holiday
Reports to the Chief Legal Officer
Central office location in Brickell area of Miami, company-paid parking

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Management: Review, analyze, and negotiate commercial and vendor contracts to ensure compliance with company policies, mitigate legal and business risks, including data privacy, indemnification, limitation of liability, and termination provisions.
Product & Compliance Support: Partner with product and engineering teams to support product launches, privacy protocols, and regulatory alignment (especially across insurance and data-related domains).
Data & Privacy: Work cross-functionally with technical and compliance teams to support legal analysis and implementation strategies concerning customer data, usage rights, and AI technologies.
IP & Brand Protection: Work with product, marketing, compliance, and legal teams to help identify and safeguard intellectual property, supporting strategy and execution around trademarks, copyrights, and patents, including reviewing IP clauses in contracts and assisting with IP workflows.
Risk & Insurance: Support internal risk mitigation policies and ensure we’re protected across liability, cyber, and E&O matters.
Process Optimization: Support legal and cross-functional teams to design and refine scalable internal workflows, templates, and systems that support a growing legal function..

Required Experience/Attributes:

Must be based in Miami and able to work onsite in Brickell
3-5 years of professional legal experience with a strong focus on in-house, startup, or tech environments
J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing
Deep interest in operational, corporate, regulatory, and product law—not a litigator
Proven ability to manage contract lifecycle and cross-functional legal processes
Familiarity with insurance, fintech, healthtech, or highly regulated B2B industries
High attention to detail, incredible follow-through, and strong process orientation
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, continuously-evolving startup environment
Passionate about innovation, technology, and building

Nice to Haves:

Insurance industry experience is a strong plus
M&A experience
Experience working with AI- or data-powered products
Prior work in the insurance, SaaS, or B2B2C services space
Familiarity with employment law, vendor compliance, or licensing frameworks
