As a
Power Electronics Engineer
at Impulse, you will design, build, and fly electrical systems critical to the success of the Mira spacecraft. You will work closely with propulsion, software, GNC, and vehicle engineers to develop cross-cutting power electronics products from scratch. You will be responsible for defining and executing the electrical architecture and technical roadmap of high-power flight systems related to Mira propulsion. This role is for Level II, Senior, Staff, and Principal level applicants. Responsibilities
Own hardware from inception through qualification, launch, and flight operations Design and fabricate the electronic components of high-power systems Perform development testing of hardware in the lab, from a single circuit board to an entire system Develop requirements and trades for avionics components and systems Contribute to spacecraft-level architecture and operations trades Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field 3+ years of experience designing switching power converters Experience with layout, filter design, and bench testing for switching power converters Experience with high-voltage power electronics (>100 V) Skills and Experience
5+ years of hands-on experience with switching power converter design, including component selection and simulating/tuning control loops Designed and owned power electronics hardware that operated in space Experience with radiation testing, design-for-EMI, and/or EMI testing Experience with custom magnetics design Experience with electric propulsion spacecraft or avionics Experience in a startup or agile development environment Additional Information
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, full-time hires may be eligible for long-term incentives, such as stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan. To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
