Our client, a leading manufacturer in the automotive sector, is seeking a strategic and experienced

Senior Buyer

to join their procurement team in

Auburn Hills, MI . This role offers the opportunity to influence key commodity strategies, lead critical negotiations, and drive measurable cost and quality improvements across a dynamic supply base. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in direct material sourcing within the automotive industry, along with a collaborative mindset and sharp analytical skills.

This position will play a key role in implementing commodity strategies, supporting program launches, and delivering results aligned with cost, quality, and delivery expectations. It's a high-impact role, ideal for someone who thrives in cross-functional environments and understands the complexity of automotive supply chains.

Key Responsibilities: Execute and manage commodity strategies for direct materials, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and delivery targets. Drive cost control initiatives for purchased components, tooling, and services. Lead contract negotiations, prepare RFQs/RFPs, and manage supplier agreements in support of business goals. Develop and implement cost-saving programs and lead internal cost recovery efforts. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate and timely communication across departments. Support supplier quality initiatives and actively participate in sourcing activities. Drive supplier selection and qualification aligned with program timing and launch requirements. Lead internal reviews of contracts in coordination with legal, finance, and other stakeholders. Track and report pricing changes and financial impacts for budgeting and forecasting purposes. Ensure timely delivery of new components that meet quality and performance standards. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field. 4+ years of purchasing experience for a Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM Proven experience negotiating supplier agreements and evaluating supplier performance. Proficiency in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with supplier screening, auditing, and qualification best practices. Prior experience managing tooling and component price changes within large programs. Understanding of warranty recovery and supplier cost recovery processes. Titles Encouraged to Apply:
