Our client, a well-established player in the automotive manufacturing space, is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive
Buyer
to join their procurement team in
Auburn Hills, MI . This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate with foundational purchasing experience who is eager to grow within a high-performing global supply chain organization.
In this role, the Buyer will manage the sourcing and procurement of key plastic and raw material components, contributing to cost optimization, quality assurance, and timely delivery across the product lifecycle. Working alongside engineering, manufacturing, and supplier quality teams, this position plays a critical part in ensuring operational efficiency and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities: Source assigned components in alignment with program timing, quality standards, and total cost objectives. Achieve annual cost-saving and performance improvement targets through negotiations, VA/VE initiatives, and supplier resourcing. Support the development and execution of commodity strategies in partnership with senior procurement staff. Serve as a liaison between Purchasing and other internal departments, including engineering and manufacturing. Manage supplier relationships to resolve issues related to cost, delivery, or quality. Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts for assigned commodities. Monitor and mitigate risk related to cost drivers such as tariffs, raw material price volatility, and other market forces. Assist with supplier development and performance tracking to meet company standards. Participate in cross-functional efforts to support new product launches and engineering changes. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree 1-3 years of purchasing experience for an automotive Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and procurement systems. Titles Encouraged to Apply:
