Our client well-established organization is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic

Controller

to lead its accounting and financial operations. This role is responsible for overseeing daily financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting long-term fiscal planning.

Reporting to senior leadership, the Controller will manage a small team, maintain accurate financial reporting, and implement systems that support organizational growth and evolving funding sources. The ideal candidate is proactive, open to feedback, and passionate about building efficient processes that align with the organization's goals.

Salary: $110,000-$120,000 DOE.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead comprehensive accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, grant allocations, and monthly close Oversee budgeting and financial planning, driving annual budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with leadership Manage grant and fund accounting, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance with funder requirements across program and development teams Produce timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including Board presentations, and audits. Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture and translating financial concepts for non-financial teams Maintain systems and compliance, optimizing tools and workflows while ensuring adherence to GAAP, nonprofit regulations, and audit readiness. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3+ years in a senior finance role (e.g., Controller), with deep expertise in GAAP, grant and fund accounting, and sector-specific regulations Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring finance teams for 5+ years Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and audit preparation Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with QuickBooks Online and other ERP systems Strategic yet hands-on approach, comfortable with both high-level planning and detailed financial operations
