Customer Materials Coordinator

on 3rd shift to serve as the operational bridge between their Grand Rapids facility and key automotive OEM customers. This role is vital in managing order fulfillment, aligning internal production with external demand, and maintaining high service levels in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and experienced in customer-facing roles within automotive supply chains.

What You'll Do: Act as the primary interface between manufacturing operations and automotive customers, ensuring alignment on order requirements and delivery timelines. Track, interpret, and distribute electronic data interchange (EDI) forecasts and customer releases to internal teams daily. Monitor production output against delivery schedules, flagging any discrepancies or risks to internal stakeholders. Support daily logistics planning by coordinating with production and shipping teams to meet outbound shipment deadlines. Regularly update internal departments with rolling demand forecasts to maintain production readiness. Prepare and cross-verify shipment paperwork to ensure accurate and timely dispatch. Address delivery issues or customer feedback by working closely with quality, logistics, and production departments. Assist in root cause analysis and follow-through on corrective actions related to quality or delivery performance. Maintain compliance with automotive quality and environmental standards including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001. Champion safety and environmental regulations, maintaining adherence to OSHA and MIOSHA guidelines. What You Bring:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline. At least 3 years of experience within a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment, preferably in plastics. Proven track record supporting OEM programs-direct experience with Ford or GM is a strong plus. Solid understanding of scheduling systems, materials coordination, and just-in-time delivery practices. Comfortable using EDI platforms and ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing setting. Ability to communicate effectively across departments and build strong working relationships with internal and external partners. Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills. Thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments with shifting priorities. Bonus Points For:

Previous involvement in audit preparation or compliance documentation. Familiarity with quality tools like 8D, 5-Why, or other root cause methodologies. Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma environments and continuous improvement projects. Experience working with international shipping or multiple OEMs simultaneously. Titles That May Fit This Role:
