CardWorks Servicing, LLC provides end-to end operational servicing functions for credit cards, secured cards, and installment loans. We service consumer and small business loans across the credit spectrum and offers backup servicing and due diligence services to capital providers and trustees.
Merrick Bank is an FDIC-insured Utah Industrial Loan Bank. Merrick operates three main business lines: credit cards, recreational lending, and merchant services.
Carson Smithfield, LLC provides a variety of post-charge-off debt recovery services, including digital self-service, IVR, live agent, and external agency management.
Position Summary:
The Director of Collections is a key leadership role within the CardWorks Operations organization, responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of consumer collections for our Recreational Loan portfolios (including RVs, boats, utility trailers, and off-road vehicles). This role ensures the collection staff adheres to Lending collection policies, adherence to internal policies, and compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading high-volume collections teams, driving process improvements, and fostering a customer-focused, compliant collections environment. The Director will oversee a team of collection specialists-including team leaders, support staff, and collectors-and will develop strategies to minimize portfolio losses.
Essential Functions: Leads and manages collection efforts across all delinquency stages, including repossession. Develops and implements strategies to optimize collection effectiveness while ensuring compliance with regulations (FDCPA, UDAAP, CFPB, etc.). Monitors and manages operational KPIs to ensure alignment with SLAs and internal benchmarks. Collaborates cross-functionally with other Rec Lending departments, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Client Services, Rec Lending and Technology to ensure alignment of controls, procedures, and systems with business needs. Remains current in industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to maintain a best-in-class collections operation. Represents the department in client and partner meetings, including preparation of operational updates and performance reviews. Identifies and implements automation and process improvement opportunities in collaboration with internal stakeholders. Ensures appropriate staffing, resource planning, and business continuity processes are in place to meet operational demands. Trains and develops staff at all levels. Participates in the hiring process, including interviewing candidates. Conducts performance evaluations and administers corrective actions as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience:
B.A. in a Business-related field preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent education required. Seven (7) years of related collections, recovery or call center management experience required. Four (4) years of management/supervisory experience preferred. Summary of Qualifications:
Requires a strong knowledge of data analysis, collections strategy design and testing. Good cognitive skills, and an ability to use data to improve business metrics. Experience with multi-channel Collections tools including Outbound dialer, SMS, and e-mail. Good knowledge of Collection Contact Center tools (ACD, IVR, Speech Analytics, Call Back Solutions, WFM, Quality Management, TCPA calling solutions and Online Training tool Good organizational skills, being able to manage multiple projects in parallel. Good communication / influences skills to work cross-functionally and to share finding and put forth recommendations. Solid knowledge of financial concepts to be able to develop business cases in support of strategy changes and investment requests. Excellent ability to use Microsoft tools including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook. Must possess strong systems skills; solid collection, analytical and negotiating skills and a solid knowledge of collection laws. Our Employee Value Proposition
