Merrick Bank is an FDIC-insured Utah Industrial Loan Bank. Merrick operates three main business lines: credit cards, recreational lending, and merchant services.
Carson Smithfield, LLC provides a variety of post-charge-off debt recovery services, including digital self-service, IVR, live agent, and external agency management.
Position Summary The Manager of Strategy & Analytics is responsible for driving the growth and expansion of the Payment Protection product while proactively identifying and developing new value-added services. This role will manage and optimize the product’s P&L, analyzing enrollment funnels, benefit payout rates, and attrition. The Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams—including marketing, product, risk partners, and finance—to design, test, and launch new solutions that align with business objectives and customer needs. Through a combination of analytical rigor, strategic foresight, and collaborative execution, this role plays a pivotal part in advancing Merrick Bank’s competitive position in the credit card market.
Key Responsibilities
Scales the Product: Leads omnichannel marketing to drive efficient and sustainable growth in Payment Protection enrollment, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and maximizing customer engagement across multiple touchpoints.
Analyzes Product Performance: Develops, monitors, and interprets KPIs and financial metrics to effectively manage the Payment Protection product’s P&L, providing actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
Optimizes Product Offerings: Conducts comprehensive, data-driven analyses and market research to identify opportunities for product enhancements, pricing adjustments, and customer experience improvements that increase profitability and competitive positioning.
Drives New Business Initiatives: Evaluates potential value-added services for Merrick Bank’s cardholders by conducting thorough market assessments, building detailed business cases, and leading the end-to-end process of launching new revenue-generating P&L verticals.
Supports Marketing Analytics: Employs a rigorous test-and-learn methodology to optimize customer communications, brand marketing campaigns, and overall marketing effectiveness, enhancing customer acquisition, retention, and engagement.
Collaborates Cross-Functionally: Partners closely with internal stakeholders—including Digital Product, Finance, Risk Partners, Compliance, and external vendors to coordinate efforts, share insights, and ensure successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Business, Finance, Statistics, Engineering) is required.
Three (3) years’ experience using data analysis to inform strategy or product decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communications skills with the ability to present to executive leadership.
Proficiency with SQL or a scripting language (e.g., Python, R).
Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Proven ability to develop cross-functional relationships and get work done as a team.
Previous experience in consumer financial services or fintech industries, particularly Credit Card.
Experience with Payment Protection / Credit Protection.
Experience with A/B testing or design of experiments.
Experience with omnichannel marketing delivery & monitoring.
Familiarity with consumer financial services regulations.
Compliance With Laws & Regulations
Responsible for complying with all the Bank’s internal control policies and procedures.
Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.
Work Environment Work Environment/Physical Demands: Light. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
