Part-Time Student Event Assistant, Student Involvement and Leadership

The Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC) supports co-curricular life at Indiana University Bloomington. With that in mind, the SILC staff's principal responsibility is to advise, mentor, and prepare students (Indiana Memorial Union Board (IMU), student employees, etc.) to be responsible leaders in the execution of their obligations to the IMU and the university. The initiation and execution of co-curricular programs and services that support students, employees, alumni and university guests is a vital component of the SILC office.
Job Summary Staff events for programs as part of the IMU Programs initiative which includes Late Nite, Light Up the Night, Carnival, Involvement Fair, etc. Responsible for managing activity areas throughout the union, adhering to safety measures and activity guidelines posed by the Program Coordinator, and complying with emergency response plans. May collect entertainment resources, decorate the IMU, staff information tables, and be present at programs. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University SKILLS
Required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Superior customer service skills, including ability to interact with various personalities Preferred
Familiarity with the campus and Indiana Memorial Union in order to give directions Willingness to work alongside multiple campus departments, resources, and employees Working Conditions / Demands
This position involves moving items and requires flexibility to work a range of activities. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
Additional Information
Event Assistants are expected to attend 30 minute bi-weekly staff meetings to learn about the upcoming programs. Event Assistants will also attend a semester evaluation with the Program Coordinator and/or the Graduate Advisor.
