Position Title: Head Athletic Strength & Conditioning Coach

Reports To: Director of Athletics

Salary: Stipend (set by coaches pay scale)

POSITION GOAL: The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe conditions in accordance with PIAA, league, sports medicine and RSD policies/procedures. Furthermore the candidate will be responsible for assisting student-athletes to establish a life after high school while instilling Red Knight pride, connecting with youth programs, and teaching education through athletics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a minimum age of 18 years old. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Background in secondary education preferred Preferably have competed/coached athletics Preferable experience working in a supervision role in athletics, recreation, education, or related fields. Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with adults and students in a diverse work environment. Familiar with current techniques in strength and conditioning CSCS or similar certification

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Oversee assistant strength and conditioning coaches to ensure that all strength coaches are working in a cohesive nature to properly cross-train athletes 2. Oversee strength and conditioning for up to 5 teams per season (Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring). 3. Communicate with coaches, athletic trainers, and athletic department regarding schedule 4. Intervene with injured student-athletes to meet injury rehab standards laid out by ATC's MD's DO's and PT's. 5. Organize sessions to fit teams academic and athletic schedules. 6. Coordinate with coaches, and athletic training departments to identify students in need of support. 7. Track student progress and adjust training accordingly. 8. Place student-athletes in positions to succeed not only in their sport, but also in life 9. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including communication skills with director of athletics, assistant athletic directors, sports medicine staff, school social workers, school counselors, game workers, officials, media, students, parents, spectators, and facility staff. 10. Ensures that all possible safety measures are observed, including proper surveillance of program participants. 11.Attend all training sessions and any additional staff meetings. 12. Work flexible hours including off season training, early mornings, afternoon/evenings, weekends, and holidays. 13. Secure equipment and facilities after each usage 14. Communicate with RSD admin, safe schools, custodial services and/or RPD as needed. 15. Be a good role model to student-athletes 16. Support all RSD athletics

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physically perform all skills required of a coach. Hear noises and distress signals in a crowded athletic facility. Able to withstand extreme weather conditions Able to lift at least 45 pounds.
