Description of Position The Eatery at Yavapai College is dedicated to serving delicious meals that focus on local and seasonal ingredients, promote nutrition for academic and athletic performance, and prioritize sustainability in our food practices. We believe in providing students and staff with wholesome and nourishing meals that support their overall well-being.

We're looking for a reliable kitchen staff member to support all aspects of kitchen operations, including dishwashing, food prep, basic cooking, and restocking supplies. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who's a team player with excellent communication and multi-tasking skills to play a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities: • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen tools • Keep the dish area and Mop Sink Room clean, organized, and free of clutter • Assist with basic kitchen cleaning tasks as needed • Follow all safety and sanitation procedures • Take out trash and cardboard • Sweep and Mop Dish Pit, Back Kitchen, Dry Storage and Walk-Ins • Filling Soda Machines with Ice • Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the Executive Chef or Sous Chef • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves • Washing, chopping, prepping, and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats • Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients • Clean up the station and kitchen daily • Stock inventory appropriately • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Grounds Duties: • Curb painting • Grounds clean up and trash removal • Trail maintenance • Other grounds duties

Custodial Duties: • Window washing • Carpet cleaning/shampooing • Event set up • Room turning at the Halls • General cleaning tasks

Minimum Expectations & Requirements • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with colleagues • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures • High school Diploma or GED or Currently Enrolled • Current Arizona Food Handlers Card • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks • Familiar with industry's best practices • Ability to follow work direction and work as a part of a team • Ability to adapt to workplace and workload changes • Accuracy and attention to detail with regards to work orders and time keeping • Help with event setups when needed • Properly vacuum carpet and dust mop and wet mop hard floors • Ability to keep bathrooms clean and sanitized and stocked • Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties • Aptitude to learn new tasks quickly • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and managers in person, by phone and email • Ability to work in an environment which promotes teamwork and strong work ethics • Availability to work after hours and weekends to cover shows at the Performing Arts Center, special events and projects • Availability to work day, night, and weekend shifts • Ability to perform safe operation of vehicles, equipment, and tools • Accuracy and attention to detail regarding work orders and timekeeping

Employees interested in additional compensation for their Spanish speaking skills agree to assist YC by attending two recruiting events and being available for Spanish Interpretation needs as they arise. Compensation is added to the employee's regular pay at the rate of $175 per month.
